Can paint remover be used on plastic?
Yes, but very powerful paint removers may damage plastic surfaces, so look for specific plastic-safe strippers (such as Citri-Strip from my rating list).
Can paint remover be used on wood?
Sure, it is absolutely safe to use paint removers on wooden surfaces, but you have to follow all precautions included with the chosen stripping chemical.
How to use paint remover on metal?
Apply the chosen product to the surface according to given instructions. After some time (depending on the paint remover) remove it with a paint scraper. You may need to reapply chemicals if there is still some paint left. Afterwards, wipe the surface using a rag dampened with mineral spirits and rinse the metal with water.
How long does paint remover take to work?
It depends on the type of surface and the paint remover itself. Some product finish their work within five minutes after applying (like POR-15, which took the first place in my rating list) and some require up to 24 hours.
Paint remover vs heat gun – what is more effective?
In my experience, heat gun is much more effective. It is quicker and does not cause as much mess as paint removers do. Using a heat gun, you can clean up with a stiff brush and a vacuum cleaner, while chemicals leave filth that you cannot hoover, so you have to protect floors with old newspapers or something like that to catch the mess. However, fumes from a heating gun are terrible, so I recommend using it only in well-ventilated rooms or outside.

Is there an effective paint remover without methylene chloride?
Yes, there are many effective formulas without it. Smart Strip and Citri-Strip from my rating list both do not contain methylene chloride and they work really well.
Is there a paint remover that works without sanding?
Not really. Even the most effective formulas require scrapping afterwards. Use a heat gun if you want to apply as less handwork as possible.
Paint remover vs thinner: what is the difference?
Paint remover, as its name imply, is used to completely remove paint from the surface, whereas paint thinner thins paint to the needed consistency. Thinner also can be used to clean up after painting.
How to use paint remover on wood?
Read the instructions for the chosen paint remover and follow them. Cover the cleaned wooded surface with chemicals using brush or sprayer and wait for about an hour (the exact time depends on the quality of the stripper). Afterwards, scrape off softened paint and sand the surface with sandpaper.

Pant strippers consist of combination of chemicals that soften paint and some other finishes. The principle of all paint removing products is to dissolve paint by soaking into it to make it swell or bubble up in order to ease the process of scrubbing it.
How to use paint stripper for cleaning concrete?
Removing paint from concrete is pretty hard, since it may get embedded onto its pores very deep. Take the chosen paint stripper and apply it on a rag (do not forget to put on gloves before doing it!), which, in turn, should be thoroughly applied to the surface. Wait for some time according to the instructions of the chosen chemical and scrape the softened paint afterwards. Do it careful if you do not want to damage the concrete. Rinse the surface with water when you are done scrapping the paint.
